Margot Hayward, Harpist
Private Lesson Instruction
Margot Hayward teaches privately from her home in Royal Oak, Michigan, as well as one day per week in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is
an experienced teacher, with nine years of private lesson instruction as well as four summers teaching private lessons, orchestral
sectionals, beginning harp classes and harp ensemble at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp. Margot has also directed many harp
ensemble classes, orchestral sectionals and master classes for the Michigan Youth and MPulse programs of the University of Michigan
School of Music, Theater, and Dance. Student achievement includes acceptance by audition into the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.
All ages and backgrounds are welcome to contact Margot to begin harp lessons. Though some piano experience is recommended for beginners,
it is not required.
There are a limited number of harps available for rent. Please
contact Margot for rental information.
Required items necessary for progressive training:
- Harp (preferably concert tension pedal or lever harp)
- Music Stand
- Appropriate/Adjustable Bench
- Tuner
- Tuning Key
- Metronome
- Sheet music - purchased by the student/parent, as assigned in class
- Practical “Harp Shoes” (for pedal harp - must be worn for every lesson and should not be worn outside)

The student recital is scheduled for May 3, 2009, 3:30 p.m. at the Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor. Students will perform solos and harp ensemble music, followed by a light reception.
Congratulations to student Olivia Harris on her successful audition into the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin Wallace College. Olivia will be a music major at BW beginning in the fall of 2008!
